Interior Accommodations
5+ cabin layout, with 5 heads (Crew Accommodation in forepeak)
The interior of the Leopard 58 is gives an immediate impression of space, comfort and subtle luxury. The first impression upon entering main deck spaces are that they are absolutely full of light and air. The high ceilings lend the space a real sense of volume. Adding to this lightness and airiness is the bleached oak paneling throughout the space. This vessel features an unusual sort of mezzanine loft space at the forward bulkhead of the salon space with opening ports allowing in even more light and air.
In the salon space and to port is a large galley with plentiful storage and plentiful countertop space. A 5-burner cooktop is augmented by a large oven and convection/microwave. A two drawer fridge and freezer unit provides ample food storage. Supplementing the two-drawer unit is an additional freezer in the port hull, as well as drinks fridges in both the cockpit and flybridge. A drawer dishwasher makes the task of wahing up go just a bit easier. With this much space to work, and with all the best fixtures, it’s easy to imagine preparing wonderful meals aboard this vessel, making life aboard all that much better.
To starboard is the large interior lounge space, with comfortable sofa seating for 6 or 8, this space has a convertible table on a gas lift that can serve as a cocktail/coffee table, our raised up as a fold-out dining table. On the forward bulkhead of this room is a large flat panel TV with an Apple TV box for programming, and supplemented with Bose surround-sound speakers.
Forward of the lounge area is a “skipper’s space” where there are is a nav table with radio and instrument repeater/pilot control, as well as a tons of storage for everyday use items. This space has direct access to the forward cockpit and forward decks, and the front door - along with the other one in the main floor cabin - allow the boat to stay nice and cool on any day with a bit of breeze. This space would make an excellent office space for getting some work done while on board.
To port of the skipper’s space is the super-appealing main floor cabin. This space has a large double Pullman berth with a large ensuite head with freshwater flush electric toilet and separate shower area. This cabin features plenty of storage space under the berth. With its huge windows and front door access to the front cockpit, this cabin will be wonderfully filled with light and air. It’s hard to beat the idea of waking up and stepping out into the front cockpit to enjoy a cup of tea in the morning.
Downstairs in the vessel the hulls are nearly mirror images. Each hull has two discrete cabins, each with their own heads with electric freshwater flush toilets and separate shower spaces. Each cabin breathes well with an opening overhead hatch and opening port light, as well as electric fans. On stuffy days, each cabin has its own air conditioning controls. Each cabin also features its own flat panel TV with an Apple TV box for programming. Three of the cabins have large double berths set up fore and aft, port aft features two twins. The twin cabin can be converted to a large double. In the port hull there is an additional drawer freezer for provisioning. In the starboard hull there is a washing machine.
Exterior Spaces
This is a big vessel, and as a result has a tremendous amount of space for outdoor living - and there are so many spaces there is enough room for everyone to have a space of their own when desired. Starting up front, there is a huge trampoline for lounging. Whether getting some sun in the daytime, or reading a book in the cool breeze at night, the trampoline is always one of the most comfortable spots on the boat - and this one is huge.
Aft of the trampoline is the forward cockpit that’s been mentioned above. I see a couple of great uses for this space. First, it’s the ideal quiet spot to have coffee or tea in the morning to have a look at the sunrise, or a quiet hideaway if the boat is full of people. Another great use is as a relaxation spot later in the day when the sun may make the aft cockpit less comfortable. A great spot to read or relax or have a drink in the shade of the large overhang. It’s worth mentioning again that the two doors that lead to the forward cockpit allow an exceptional amount of airflow through this vessel, allowing indoor-outdoor living in great comfort (and without air-conditioning!)
At the rear of the vessel is the vast aft cockpit. It is easy to set this up as a dining area for 10 - or more. Well-shaded mid-day, and breezy after sunset, this is a wonderful spot to share the superb food prepared in the chef-level galley. The tasteful lighting makes it a spot where you and your guests will spend long evenings enjoying a wine and each other’s company. This space features its own drinks fridge as well as an ice-maker right at hand.
Aft of the cockpit is one of the killer features of the vessel, the hydraulic dinghy lift. While on the one hand, the convenience of lifting the dinghy at night can’t be beat, on the other hand this lift becomes a fantastic recreation or relaxation space. Lowered to a foot below the surface, it’s a great swim (or dive) platform where you can imagine the kids playing for hours. Lowered a few inches below the surface it becomes an amazing place to set up a lounger and bask in the sun. The hydraulic lift is a super-useful feature of the vessel.
Saving the most exciting space for last, a few steps up the stairs takes us to the massive Flybridge area. Its first purpose is as helm and sailing station, where the real business of operating the vessel happens. The helm has great sight lines allowing views of three corners for docking. All off the sail handling controls are centrally located and well thought out, making it easy to control this large vessel under motor or sail. There is a full set of Raymarine navigational instruments, as well as a full set of engine controls with the most important gauges. The helm seat is large and comfortable allowing the helms person to stay alert and rested while on watch. When the weather is uncooperative, the well-made enclosure keeps the space comfortable and free of breeze and spray. Of course your guests will care little about the helm station, they’ll instead be impressed by the huge upstairs lounging area. Upstairs there are plush seats for 8 or 10, as well as sun beds for 2 or 3. The plush sofa seating surrounds another convertible table that serves as a cocktail table or folds out to become a full dining table. There is a large bar area with room for glasses and bottles, a sink and fridge, as well as a second ice-maker. Aft of the bar is a BBQ station with an excellent Weber Q-grille for creating outdoor meals a-la-minute for the hungry guests after their day in the sun and breeze. This flybridge is large and comfortable, and all covered over with a huge rigid bimini top. One can only imagine the pleasure of sitting up there on a beautiful Caribbean evening enjoying a beverage and the view of the anchorage and the company of friends and family.
